In a Nutshell
I'm a 23yr old Slytherin
female who loves to dream, watch anime, read, drink tea, and sleep. I'm a bit introverted
and I can be downright lazy at times. Dragons and kitties make me go 'aww!' but hypocrits,
anime haters slow drivers,
and spam make me go 'grr!'...more?

Why Is Her Son Dead?
When you sign up and enlist in the military you do so because you wish to serve and defend your country. Typically one’s family is supportive of this idea, sometimes not. But when one dies for their country one should hope that your family would have the decency to appreciate your sacrifice for the country’s, their continued freedom.
Most people cannot understand that those who have joined the military have the wish to protect the nation that we hold so dear to our hearts, this place that we call home. What is even sadder is when family has the gall to take your death and make a mockery of it. Our troops are in Iraq and yes they seem to be fighting a never ending battle there that at first glance appears to have no real reason, but they are fighting for us.
History is repeating itself all over again folks. A good example of this is the mom and her supporters who were protesting outside of Bush’s ranch in Crawford Texas. She says she wants to know why her son died, the answer is staring her right in front of her face. She has the ability to protest right outside the house of her nation’s leader because of it, she has the right to speak her mind, to travel around the country, to speak out her thoughts, because of him and all the other soldiers before him that died for that right. We believed that Saddam had weapons of mass destruction, he didn’t, but he was trying to figure out how to get them. Before that Saddam was a threat to the US and most importantly to his own people. Removing him from power has helped to grant the people of Iraq some peace of mind, although it certainly isn’t over.
If there is a large sharp stone lodged in the roadway one must remove it in order to keep the traffic flowing along smoothly. However, if you remove that stone there is left in its place a large hole that will in time be filled in with other nasty surprise, or that may grow and cause even more disruption in the course of things. The only way to prevent that from happening is to fill it in and pave over it. That is what President Bush is trying to do by settling the outbursts and aiding Iraq’s government and it’s people in setting up a government to rule themselves with.
Our soldiers have fought and died on foreign territory for this reason, the chance to remove a long standing threat to our beloved country, and the chance to give these people in Iraq the chance to have a taste of what we have here in the US, what we take for granted - freedom.
I sympathize with the woman, she lost her son and this is a loss that I have never felt and can never really understand, I realize this. What she and many others don’t seem to realize however is that this hatred for this war falls not only on the war itself, but on our soldiers, and our soldiers do not deserve to feel our hatred. Vietnam was a horrible experience and our troops suffered needlessly, let’s not repeat history again.
So why is this woman’s son, and so many other’s children dead as well? So that we as a nation can sleep peacefully at night. So that people could speak their minds, and enjoy their god given rights. That’s why our soldiers have died for us.
